TI Africa - Sudan
History of TI in Sudan: Derek Green met Daniel in July 2005 whilst he was in Marlborough on an exchange visit. (Salisbury Diocese is linked to the Sudan) and during a meal together Derek showed him video of his visit to Mali and explained TIE International. Daniel immediately expressed his interest in introducing TIE into the Sudan. Daniel is 27 years old. His father was a chief, the son of the Azande prominent King Gbudue in Western Equatonia southern Sudan. Zande is the second largest tribe in southern Sudan. His father was to be called a King, but the Kingdomship was demoted to chiefdom and his father was a senior chief. He was murdered by unknown gunmen in his residency in 1996. It appears that this was politically motivated. Daniel actually works for Bishop Levi Hassan Nzakara of Ibba Diocese. These bishops are conservative evangelicals. Daniel lives in south Sudan at Yambio. He is a committed Evangelist serving the dioceses of Maridi, Ibba, Yambio and Ezo. As such Daniel is the co-ordinator of Evangelism and Outreach. He is highly respected by his seniors and was picked to come to UK by them. Daniel received Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour at the age of 15. His family background has prepared him for leadership. Daniel’s responsibilities in the church are: -
Derek Green gave Daniel a full set of literature on TIE to study. This he did and wrote back to say that he understood the TIE strategy and would be delighted to offer himself as the TIE contact person for the Sudan. His current ministry is an ideal base from which to train tentmaker missionaries. The needs in the Sudan are enormous, the south largely Christian and the north Muslim. In undertaking this ministry for TIE he believes he will have the full support of his bishops. He plans to make contact with Tiowa Diarra in Mali. Daniel Badagbu was appointed TIE Contact person for the Sudan in an e-mail letter from Ken Smith dated 16th August 2005 July 2006. PT was able to send Daniel £100 towards his needs which resulted from the attacks earlier in the year. (anonymous gift) 16th July 2006 St Mary’s notices. It was reported that Daniel is preparing to train as a doctor. |
